The Yangon Army (YA) and Western District People’s Defense Force jointly carried out an attack using hand grenades on the military council-controlled ward administrator’s office in Ward 141, Dagon Myothit (South) Township, Yangon Region. The attack occurred at 10:01 PM on March 8th and was reportedly conducted in response to the ongoing oppression of local residents by the ward administrator and his associates who serve under the military council’s administration.
According to a spokesperson from the Yangon Army, the attack likely resulted in casualties among the ward administrator and his subordinates. The representative stated that they would continue to target significant military council installations until the fall of the military dictatorship. This operation was carried out as a response to the military council’s oppression of civilians and was intended to protect the security and rights of local residents.
The administrative mechanisms under the military council have been perpetrating human rights violations against local civilians, including threats, extortion, arrests, and torture. As a result, revolutionary forces have committed to continuing such operations to protect the lives, properties, and well-being of the people. The attack represents ongoing resistance efforts against the military council’s oppressive governance at the local level, where appointed administrators often serve as instruments of the junta’s control over civilian populations.
