
Revolutionary forces successfully attacked a military outpost located on the old Yangon-Mandalay highway in Bago Region’s Taungoo District, resulting in five military casualties and the seizure of multiple weapons, according to resistance sources. The attack took place at 4:30 AM on March 9, targeting a military outpost near Kyauktaing village, situated between Kywepe and Nyaungchaiktauk towns along the old Yangon-Mandalay highway.
The operation was jointly carried out by the People’s Defense Force (PDF), Operation Area 2, Strategy 23, Battalion 3502, and Oaktwin PDF combat units. During the battle, while one resistance fighter was killed in action, five military personnel were eliminated, and significant weapons and ammunition were captured. The seized military equipment included two MA-1 rifles, two G3 rifles, two MA-11 rifles, twelve ammunition magazines, 200 rounds of G3 ammunition, and 200 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition.
Comrade Tin Oo, Commander of PDF Operation Area 2, confirmed that this attack was part of the ongoing resistance operations to liberate territories under military control. He emphasized that the location holds strategic importance due to its position along the old Yangon-Mandalay highway, and the revolutionary forces would continue their efforts to free the area from military control. The successful operation demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in conducting coordinated attacks against military installations in strategically significant locations.
