A police corporal from Myatdaing police station in Paungde Township, Bago Region, was attacked while collecting extortion money, managing to escape while his belongings were seized by the People’s Defense Force. The incident occurred on March 8 at 3:30 PM between Thayme and Kontha villages, where members of the 3601 Battalion’s 5th Company of Pyay District People’s Defense Force conducted the ambush operation.
Police Corporal Thein Lwin abandoned his motorcycle and fled after spotting the PDF forces from a distance. Despite being fired upon by revolutionary forces, he managed to escape by jumping into an irrigation canal. During the incident, the forces seized his motorcycle, three hand grenades, six rounds of various ammunition, a pair of handcuffs, 130,000 kyats in cash, motorcycle registration documents, police ID card, driving license, and other documents.
Police Corporal Thein Lwin from Myatdaing police station had been known for forcing local residents into military service, arresting and extorting money from wealthy civilians, and conducting torture that resulted in deaths and imprisonments. The 3601 Battalion of the People’s Defense Force has urged members of the terrorist military council, police forces, and Pyu Saw Htee militia to cease their violent acts and defect to the people’s side as soon as possible.
