The Yangon Army (YA) and Western District People’s Defense Force jointly carried out an attack using hand grenades on the military council-controlled ward administration office in Ward 141, Dagon Myothit (South) Township, Yangon Region. According to a Yangon Army official who spoke to Yangon Modern News Agency, the attack took place at 10:01 PM on March 8. The operation was conducted in response to continuous oppression of local residents by the ward administrator and his associates.
The Yangon Army official stated that the ward administrator and his subordinates were likely to have been injured or killed in the attack. He further emphasized that such operations would continue until the complete fall of the military dictatorship. The resistance forces have been systematically targeting the military council’s administrative mechanisms because local administrators have been actively involved in forced military recruitment, extortion, and intimidation of civilians under the military council’s direction.
The People’s Defense Forces are continuing their systematic operations to dismantle the military council’s administrative structure in Dagon Myothit (South) Township. They have pledged to continue identifying and targeting organizations and individuals collaborating with the military council. The resistance forces have emphasized their commitment to protecting the security and rights of civilians, stating that their operations will persist until the military council’s oppressive mechanisms are completely dismantled in the area. The joint operation between the Yangon Army and the Western District People’s Defense Force demonstrates the growing coordination among resistance groups in their fight against the military council’s control at the local level.
