Revolutionary forces conducted an attack on the military council’s Nyaung Khar Shay X-Ray checkpoint located on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway in Bago Region during the early hours of March 8. According to an official from the Waw Township People’s Defense Force (PDF), the attack was carried out using three 107mm rocket-propelled grenades.
The joint operation was conducted around 3 AM by combined forces from the Waw Township and Kawa Township People’s Defense Forces. While the extent of casualties among military council troops and damage to infrastructure could not be immediately verified, the revolutionary forces were able to successfully withdraw from the operation without sustaining any casualties.
The Nyaung Khar Shay checkpoint, situated at the border between Bago Region and Mon State, represents a significant obstacle to revolutionary movement operations. An official from the Waw Township PDF stated that the checkpoint has been a major hindrance to the transportation of weapons and ammunition for revolutionary activities, and they plan to continue systematic operations to dismantle it. The checkpoint has been responsible for numerous interceptions of revolutionary supplies, making it a priority target for resistance forces in the area. The joint operation demonstrates the increasing coordination between various revolutionary forces in their campaign against military council installations.
