On March 8th, around 6 AM, revolutionary forces launched simultaneous attacks on three military council positions in Longlone Town, Tanintharyi Region. The targeted locations included the police station, General Administration Office, and Military Security Force office, according to local residents. Since the beginning of the clashes, the military council’s navy and troops from Dawei have been continuously firing heavy artillery at Longlone town and surrounding villages. Due to the intense shelling, many local civilians have been forced to flee to safer locations.
The fighting concluded around noon, and after the revolutionary forces withdrew, the military council forces closed off the Kyamaukgyi Bridge connecting Dawei and Longlone, while reinforcing their troops in the area. With the bridge closure, civilians are completely restricted from travel, and additional military council forces are arriving from the Dawei side to strengthen their positions. Local resistance groups have warned residents to remain vigilant as the military council forces continue their artillery bombardment and may conduct airstrikes in the area. The military council’s aggressive response has created a humanitarian concern for local civilians who are caught in the conflict zone.
