Revolutionary forces conducted an attack on the military council’s Nyaung Khar Shay X-Ray checkpoint located on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway in Bago Region during the early hours of March 8. The operation was jointly carried out by the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) from Waw Township and Kawa Township, utilizing three 107mm rocket-propelled grenades. A spokesperson from the Waw Township PDF confirmed the attack to local media.
The Nyaung Khar Shay checkpoint, situated at the border between Bago Region and Mon State, has been identified as a crucial military installation that significantly impedes revolutionary activities. The checkpoint has been particularly effective in intercepting weapons and ammunition shipments, resulting in numerous seizures that have hampered resistance operations. Due to its strategic importance in disrupting supply lines, resistance forces have indicated their intention to continue targeting this installation for future operations. The spokesperson emphasized that this checkpoint represents a major obstacle for revolutionary forces, particularly in terms of logistics and movement of supplies.
The attack was successfully executed with no reported casualties among the resistance fighters, who were able to withdraw safely after the operation. However, the exact extent of casualties and damage inflicted on the military council forces and infrastructure could not be immediately verified. These types of operations are part of ongoing efforts to reduce the military council’s control over key transportation routes and to enhance the effectiveness of revolutionary activities in the region. The strategic targeting of such checkpoints demonstrates the resistance forces’ focus on disrupting the military council’s ability to maintain control over critical infrastructure and supply routes.
