Revolutionary forces conducted an attack on the military council’s Nyaung Khar Shay X-Ray checkpoint located on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway in Bago Region during the early hours of March 8. According to a responsible official from the Waw Township People’s Defense Force (PDF), the attack was carried out at approximately 3 AM using three 107mm rocket-propelled grenades.
The operation was jointly conducted by People’s Defense Forces from Waw and Kawa townships. While the extent of casualties and damage inflicted on military council forces could not be immediately verified, it was confirmed that all revolutionary forces successfully withdrew from the area without sustaining any casualties or injuries. The checkpoint, situated at the border between Bago Region and Mon State, has been identified as a significant obstacle to revolutionary movement operations.
The official from the Waw Township PDF explained that the Nyaung Khar Shay checkpoint serves as a major inspection point along crucial supply routes, particularly for weapons and ammunition transportation. Due to its strategic location and history of intercepting resistance movements’ supplies, the revolutionary forces have identified this checkpoint as a priority target for future operations. The spokesperson emphasized their determination to continue efforts to neutralize this military installation, which has been responsible for numerous seizures and has significantly impeded resistance operations in the region.
