
More than 10,000 civilians have been forced to flee their homes as military forces conduct operations along the border of Yesagyo Township in Magway Region and Myaung Township in Sagaing Region, carrying out killings and systematic burning of villages, according to the head of Myaung Township People’s Defense and Security Group. On March 2, approximately 80 military troops from Yesagyo launched operations with heavy artillery fire and invaded Myeisone village. On the same day, drone strikes resulted in the destruction of two houses and about seven motorcycles in Sinchaeya village.
The military forces burned Myeisone village for a second time on March 3, and after reinforcing with 60 more troops, conducted a third burning operation on March 4. On March 5, they entered Zarapni village and burned civilian homes, followed by the burning of Thakhaunglay village on March 7. Currently, residents from fourteen villages including Myeisone, Sinchaeya, Malakakhan, Shwelan, Ywartha, Thakhaungkyi, Zarapni, Thakhaunglay, and Phyonbu villages in Yesagyo Township, as well as Myitsone, Ngarhtoe, Minla, Panyo, and Nyaungkaya villages in Myaung Township continue to seek refuge in safer locations.
Ko Nwe Oo, leader of the Myaung Township People’s Defense and Security Group, explained that over 10,000 civilians remain displaced due to ongoing security concerns, as military forces continue attempting to advance into Myaung Township. Additionally, during the raid on Myeisone village, the military committed atrocities including the arrest and killing of five elderly civilians: U Han Tin (over 70 years old), U Htay Myint (60 years old), U Thanmani (88 years old), Daw Than Pyay (60 years old), and Daw Hla Ngwe (86 years old), some of whom were burned to death, according to confirmation from the Yesagyo Township Information Committee.
