
Local residents report that over 200 houses were destroyed when the military council conducted aerial bombardments on Wa Bo village in Sittwe Township and U Kinn village in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State. U Kinn village, located near the Danyawaddy Naval Base in Kyaukphyu Township, was bombed twice by the military council on March 6, once in the afternoon and again in the evening. U Kinn village, which contained more than 170 houses, was completely destroyed by fire due to the military council’s airstrikes. However, villagers had already evacuated to safer areas due to previous fighting, so there were no civilian casualties.
Since late February, intense fighting has occurred between the military council’s security outposts and the Arakan Army (AA) in the areas of U Kinn, Kyattin, Si Maw, and Shaung Chaung near the Danyawaddy Naval Base in Kyaukphyu Township. However, on March 6, while there was no active fighting, the military council conducted aerial attacks on U Kinn village. U Kinn village is located approximately three miles from the Danyawaddy Naval headquarters, and villagers continue to seek refuge in safer locations.
Similarly, Wa Bo village in Sittwe Township was attacked by military council drones on the morning of March 6, resulting in the destruction of at least 35 houses by fire. Around 9 AM, the military council base on Kha Kaung Island in Sittwe Township launched an attack using 10 drones. Local residents reported that the military council conducted the attack believing AA forces were present in the village, though no AA troops were actually there. The military council has forcibly evicted residents from more than 20 villages near Sittwe, including Wa Bo village. Fighting continues to intensify between the military council forces and the Arakan Army in areas near Sittwe and Kyaukphyu Township, with reports indicating that the AA has captured several military council security outposts near the Danyawaddy Naval Base in Kyaukphyu.
