A spokesperson from the Chaung U People’s Defense Force confirmed that 17 military council personnel, including a deputy lieutenant, were killed during an interceptive attack on two armored vehicles departing from Monywa city in the Sagaing Region. The incident occurred on March 4th in the evening when the armored vehicles, traveling from Monywa and passing through Chaung U town towards Myinmu, were ambushed by revolutionary forces on the Monywa-Mandalay road.
During the battle, one resistance fighter sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the military council responded with heavy artillery support. The military bases at Sokepin office and Myapale outpost in Chaung U fired 106 rounds from 120mm artillery pieces, and the air force provided air support with two mechanized parachute operations. The revolutionary forces managed to destroy both armored vehicles used by the military council troops and seized various weapons and ammunition.
The captured weapons inventory included four MA 1 rifles, one MA 3, three MA 11s, one G 3, one G 1, one 60mm mortar, one Lala weapon, and 22 various ammunition magazines. While some military council soldiers managed to escape during the battle, none were captured alive. The successful operation was carried out through the coordinated efforts of multiple resistance groups, including the Chaung U Township PDF, Yinmabin Township PDF’s armed wing, Battalion B21, Yadanabon Force, Chindwin Brothers, Bandula Defense Force, Three Brothers Force, Special Force 11, Immortal Guerrilla Force, and the Sagaing District Drone Team.
The operation received crucial medical support from the Spring Revolution Clinic, while the Spring Resource aviation team provided aerial reconnaissance assistance. This coordinated attack demonstrates the growing capabilities and cooperation among various resistance forces in their fight against the military council in the Sagaing Region. The successful seizure of weapons and vehicles represents a significant tactical victory for the resistance forces, while also highlighting their ability to conduct complex military operations against well-armed military council units.
