The military council’s airstrike on Kan village in northern Gangaw Township, Magway Region, resulted in the death of two civilians, injured four others, and destroyed ten houses. The attack occurred on March 5 at 7:48 PM when a military council fighter jet bombed the village without any ongoing battles in the area. The airstrike killed U Aung Phyo, aged 50, and his wife Daw Htar Myint, while four other civilians sustained severe injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.
The attack destroyed four residential houses, including a motorcycle repair shop, and caused significant damage to six nearby homes. According to local sources, Kan village is a large, densely populated settlement with no active fighting or presence of revolutionary forces within the village. Local residents stated that the military council deliberately targeted innocent civilians in this attack. The military council has been systematically targeting civilian areas in the region, causing loss of life, property damage, and spreading fear among local communities.
Previously, on February 24 evening, the military council also conducted an airstrike on Taung Kin Yan village in northern Gangaw Township, which resulted in one house being completely burned down and several others being damaged. These attacks demonstrate a pattern of deliberate targeting of civilian areas by the military council, leading to significant casualties and destruction of civilian property. The continuous attacks on civilian targets have created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among the local population, who are suffering from the loss of lives and property due to these unprovoked military actions.
