On March 3rd, humanitarian aid groups Voice of Mandalay and No More Dictatorship (NMD) collaborated to provide essential food supplies and healthcare services to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the eastern region of Madaya Township, Mandalay Region. The groups prioritized the distribution of rice bags to those who have been forced to flee their homes due to military council offensives, while also providing medical check-ups and necessary medicines to those in need.
Families sheltering in IDP camps are facing significant daily challenges in meeting their basic needs, with particular concerns for the healthcare requirements of children, elderly residents, and pregnant women. In response, the aid groups worked together with local healthcare providers to conduct basic health screenings, implement disease prevention measures, and distribute essential medicines. The humanitarian situation in these camps remains critical as displaced civilians struggle with limited access to basic necessities and medical care.
The eastern part of Madaya Township has become a significant displacement zone due to ongoing military operations by the military council forces. Many local residents have been forced to seek refuge in forests and temporary camps, unable to return to their homes due to security concerns. Local humanitarian groups continue to provide assistance despite facing significant risks to their own safety, carefully planning their aid delivery operations while considering the complex security situation in the area. The displaced communities remain dependent on these humanitarian aid efforts as they face uncertain circumstances and ongoing challenges in their temporary shelters.
