According to a statement from a ULF (People’s Defense Force – Armed Wing) official in Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Region, three youth members from the military council-controlled People’s Militia Force have surrendered to the resistance forces with their weapons and were awarded 3 million kyats each. The surrender took place as these individuals chose to leave the military council’s control and join the people’s side.
The three youth members surrendered to the ULF column on February 27, bringing with them three MA1 rifles, five ammunition magazines, and over 300 rounds of ammunition. The ULF officials warmly welcomed their voluntary surrender and have arranged comprehensive security measures for them. Plans are also being made to facilitate reunions with their family members. The surrendered individuals are currently being kept in a secure location with their basic needs being taken care of.
The ULF column officials emphasized that they maintain an open-door policy for anyone else wanting to leave the military council’s control. Special arrangements have been made to ensure that those who surrender can live safely in liberated areas. The officials also stated that they are providing full security and accommodation support for the three youth who have recently surrendered, and similar arrangements will be made for future defectors who choose to leave the military council’s forces and join the resistance movement.
