
Reports indicate that civilians are fleeing to safety after the military burned down Myaysunhtaw village in the river island area of Yesagyo Township, Magway Region. On the morning of March 2, a military column that departed from Yesagyo town entered Myaysunhtaw village at around 9:40 AM and began burning down residents’ homes. Due to this military raid, thousands of civilians from Myaysunhtaw village and more than seven surrounding villages have been forced to flee to safety.
The military has cut off communication lines throughout the river island area, making it impossible to confirm the exact security situation and extent of civilian casualties. According to local sources, after entering the village, the military systematically destroyed civilian buildings by setting them on fire. Due to the military offensive, local residents have had to abandon their homes, agricultural activities, and possessions, and are currently taking shelter in safer locations. The military’s actions have severely disrupted the lives of local communities, forcing them to leave behind their livelihoods and property.
Local residents report that the military has previously conducted multiple raids on villages in the river island area, subjecting civilians to threats and torture. Currently, due to the military offensive, civilians are facing difficulties with food, shelter, and displacement, with elderly people, children, and women being particularly affected. Due to security concerns, residents are unable to return to their homes and are in need of assistance. The military’s systematic destruction of civilian property and forced displacement of residents has created a humanitarian crisis in the area, with thousands of people now seeking refuge in safer locations while being cut off from communication and basic necessities.
