The People’s Democratic Army (PDA) has revealed that the military council has compiled a detailed list of 722 young people aged between 18 and 35 years in Nyaung-U Township, Nyaung-U District, Mandalay Region, for military conscription. The list was prepared by the General Administration Department under the military council with detailed personal information and was obtained by PDA forces during one of their military operations. This list demonstrates the military council’s efforts to forcibly recruit young people to expand their military strength.
A PDA official urged the youth on the list not to submit to the military council’s unjust actions and instead join the resistance movement. The youth on the list are advised to contact nearby revolutionary organizations as soon as possible to seek refuge, and the PDA has pledged to provide necessary assistance. The resistance group is currently investigating how many individuals from the list have already been arrested or conscripted into military service. The military council has been forcibly recruiting young people and using threats to bolster their forces since the coup.
The systematic collection of personal information about young people indicates the military council’s preparation for forced recruitment, according to the PDA’s analysis. Therefore, they strongly encourage young people to choose the path of resistance to protect their freedom and lives. The PDA emphasized that joining the revolutionary forces is the only viable option left for young people facing the threat of forced military service under the military council. They continue to monitor the situation and provide support to those seeking to escape military conscription.
