On February 28, residents of Hpakant city in Kachin State held a public protest against the military dictatorship and organized a rally supporting the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), People’s Defense Force (PDF), and National Unity Government (NUG). The people of Hpakant collectively prayed for the success of revolutionary forces in ongoing battles across Kachin State.
Protesters chanted slogans demanding the immediate fall of the military dictatorship, complete elimination of the fascist military, opposition to the military that commits arson, murder, and rape against innocent civilians, and calling for all people to participate in achieving swift victory in the Spring Revolution. They also demanded action against the military council under Article 33 of the International Labour Organization (ILO) for violations of workers’ rights.
The demonstration was conducted peacefully and demonstrated the local people’s trust and support for revolutionary forces. Participants expressed that the success of revolutionary operations within Kachin State is also due to the public’s continued support and encouragement.
