MYANMAR – National Unity Government (NUG) declared on February 13 that the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission is not recognized, had been abolished and urged not to liaise with it.
The National Human Rights Commission of Myanmar, founded by the atrocious junta council after unlawfully seizing the State power, is neither an independent nor credible organization. On top of that, it does not align with the Paris Principle and operates solely in accordance with the terrorist council’s interests.
In addition, the commission has failed to stand with the people suffering from human rights violations and remained silent on junta army’s international crimes.
Furthermore, the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, which was re-established on January 31, 2025, was established with most of the former members who acted at the wish of the military council, and is not an independent commission.
The Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institute-GANHRI also reportedly withdrawn its recognition and membership of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission of the terrorist military group on December 31, 2024, as it did not comply with the Paris Principles.
Therefore, the National Unity Government declared that it does not recognize and dissolve the terrorist council’s Myanmar National Human Rights Commission. Thus, the National Unity Government urges international governments and communities not to recognize, engage with, or invite that commission to any meetings.
