The attack occurred around 11 AM on February 26, using a MiG-29 fighter jet from the Meiktila Shan Tae Air Base, as confirmed by Htoo Khant Zaw (Amay Thar), Information Officer of the People’s Defense Comrade based in Shwebo. The incident took place at the Hpon Taw Oo Pagoda grounds in Mae Toe village, located in the northwestern part of Shwebo Township, where two consecutive airstrikes were carried out. Simultaneously, a monastery in Poe Kun village, Budalin Township, Sagaing Region, was also targeted by the terrorist military using drone strikes. The attack was carried out by military council troops from the Northwestern Command (NaMaKha) base in Monywa at around 4 PM on February 24. During this attack, a seven-year-old child sustained injuries when shrapnel struck their ear, though the injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to local residents. One of the monastery buildings also suffered roof damage from the strike. Poe Kun village, situated in the southern part of Budalin Township, has been a frequent target of heavy artillery and small arms fire from military council troops based at the Northwestern Command.
