
MYANMAR – There were 18 battles during the first week of February in the Southern Military Region where over 50 junta forces were killed and 27 were captured.
From the 1st till the 7th of February, the People’s Defence Force (PDF), Karen National Union – Karen National Liberation Army (KNU – KNLA), Bamar People’s Liberation Army (BPLA), FFD and other revolutionary forces cooperated and launched 18 attacks on terrorist junta forces in the southern military region.
It is said that at least 50 junta soldiers were killed and around 20 were injured in those battles while Battalions under Strategy 27 of Military Sub-Region 2, Southern Military Region, Nagarphyu Column, Taung Nyo Column, LDF, People’s Defence Organisation (PDO) and allied KNLA, BPLA and FFD drone teams jointly captured Maepali Strategic Base in Bilin Township on February 1, also confiscating weapons and ammunition.
The 27 prisoners of war captured during that battle provided medical treatment and the revolutionary forces are said to be chasing the junta forces that fled. In addition, it is reported that four PDF soldiers fell and 18 were injured in that battle.
