MYANMAR: The junta’s soldier captured as a prisoner of war, who was forced to do the military service by drawing lots in Mandalay was sent to Karenni state after the short term training. His family was informed that he had been killed in the battle by the junta’s council, as said by the local people.
The soldier was known as 26 -year-old Mr. Aung Zaw Moe from Pyigyi Yanlon ward, Aung Myay Thar Zan township, Mandalay. He was forced to do the military service after drawing lots.
A local civilian from that ward said, “The man whose leg was in front in the picture is from Myaukpyin, Mandalay. He won the lots to do military service at batch (2) and taken by the soldiers from the Ward administrative office.”
In Mandalay, the junta’s forces were known to enter into the houses to take the men to be used as porters and to ask millions of money from the affordable families to replace the men to do the military service with the reason of winning the lots, as said by the local people.
Though the junta’s council informed the family that he had been killed, the family members requested the revolutionary force which had captured him that his life would be saved as he is still alive.
“The family members requested the revolutionary force which had caught him to save his life. No one dare to say about that openly as they are scared of the junta’s army. When the pictures were released on November 27, the people in the ward noticed him and the family members knew that he is still alive, as said by a local man.
