
The Dawei District Allied Forces have announced that nine military council soldiers were killed during an attack on the Pauk Tine Bridge checkpoint at the entrance to Dawei city in Tanintharyi Region. The battle began at 5:50 AM on May 7th and lasted approximately one hour before the resistance forces made a strategic withdrawal due to military reinforcements arriving at the scene. The announcement came through an official statement from the Dawei District Allied Forces.
During the engagement, nine military council soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee militia members were killed, and seven others were severely wounded. The resistance forces reported no casualties and successfully withdrew from the area. The operation was jointly carried out by multiple resistance groups including the Dawei District Allied Forces, Daung Nyi Naung Column, U Au Column, Dawei District People’s Defense Force Battalion 1, Launglone Township People’s Defense Force, Myeik District People’s Defense Force Battalion 1 Company 1, Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) 4th Brigade Special Forces, Dawei Township People’s Defense Force (DDT), and drone units.
In their statement, the Dawei District Allied Forces explained that the attack was conducted in response to the military council troops’ ongoing violations against civilians, including forceful confiscation of property, abuse of power, and arbitrary arrests. The statement emphasized that they would continue to target military council forces who commit such criminal acts against the local population. The allied forces also affirmed their commitment to protecting the security and rights of local civilians, stating they would continue their efforts to defend the people against military council oppression. The resistance forces emphasized their dedication to maintaining their offensive operations against military council troops who continue to perpetrate violations against civilian populations in the region.
