An 80-year-old civilian was killed when the terrorist military conducted an unprovoked aerial attack on Balaba village in Yesagyo Township, according to local sources. The attack occurred around 4:20 PM on April 17, when military aircraft bombed the village three times. The elderly civilian suffered severe injuries including leg amputation leading to death, while two other civilians were also wounded in the attack.
The military’s aerial assault resulted in one house being completely burned down and nine other homes sustaining damage. Additionally, a monastery building, power station, and brick walls were destroyed in the attack. Local residents confirmed that there was no fighting in the area when the military conducted the bombing, suggesting it was intended to terrorize villagers. A representative from the Yesagyo Township Info Committee stated that the attack was deliberately carried out to instill fear and anxiety among the civilian population.
Following the aerial bombardment, Military Battalion 258 further fired howitzer artillery at the villages approximately three times. This pattern of unprovoked attacks on civilians represents a form of terrorism by the military council, with local residents noting that such actions are specifically designed to inflict psychological trauma and intimidate the population. The incident demonstrates the military’s continued use of disproportionate force against civilian targets in the absence of any military engagement or justification.
