A spokesperson from the Thayarwaddy District PDF has confirmed that 8 military council soldiers were killed and weapons were seized during an attack on the Sit Kwin checkpoint near Oak Twin village, Sit Kwin town, on the Yangon-Pyay road in Bago Region. The attack was carried out on March 20 by revolutionary forces from Battalion 3802 Division 2 of Thayarwaddy District, targeting the checkpoint where military council forces had been extorting money and arbitrarily arresting civilians.
The battle lasted for approximately one hour and forty-five minutes, resulting in the immediate death of 7 military council soldiers and injuries to 6 others. During the engagement, revolutionary forces seized one carbine rifle, one ammunition magazine, 20 rounds of ammunition, various military equipment, and one motorcycle from the military council forces. Although the checkpoint station was set on fire, it sustained only minor damage. The following day, on March 21 at around 10 AM, revolutionary forces conducted a follow-up attack using remote-controlled mines against military council soldiers who had returned to take up defensive positions in the bunker at the Sit Kwin checkpoint, resulting in one additional death and four injuries among military council personnel.
Battalion 3802 Division 2 of Thayarwaddy District has announced their intention to continue offensive operations against the military council and their supporting infrastructure, which have been oppressing civilians and revolutionary forces. They have issued a warning to civilians to avoid traveling or residing near military council camps, checkpoints, and administrative facilities. The revolutionary forces explained that their operations in this area are necessary to protect civilians from the military council’s ongoing practices of unlawful arrests, extortion, and intimidation of local residents.
