The Northwestern Command Headquarters based in Monywa, Sagaing Region, was effectively targeted by People’s Defense Forces using rocket weapons, resulting in significant casualties among military council forces. According to a spokesperson from the Chindwin Rocket Brothers (CRB), the attack killed eight military personnel including three officers instantly and destroyed an ammunition storage facility. The confirmation came directly from a representative of the CRB organization to local media.
The attacks were carried out twice, on July 29 and August 26, under the direction of the Monywa District Command, with the CRB forces launching 20 rockets at the military headquarters. The strikes resulted in the immediate deaths of three officers from the military regional office and five soldiers, while seven other military personnel sustained severe injuries and were evacuated to the military hospital (300-bed) for emergency treatment. The successful operation also resulted in the destruction of an ammunition storage facility within the military compound.
This coordinated assault was carried out through collaboration between multiple resistance forces, including the Chindwin Rocket Brothers (CRB) as the lead force, along with local defense groups such as Chyoe Myay Myay (Kani), Anonymous Heroes, Bandula Defense Force, Budalin Defense Force, Federal Democratic Force, Chindwin Brothers, and the Oak Gyi group. The operation is considered a successful military action against the military council forces in the Sagaing Region, according to assessments by the attacking forces. The precision and effectiveness of the rocket attacks demonstrated the growing capabilities of the resistance forces in conducting coordinated military operations against strategic military council targets.
