
Local residents reported that 8 civilians, including 5 children, were killed in airstrikes conducted by the military council in Hsipaw Township, Northern Shan State, and Kyaukse Township, Mandalay Region, where no fighting had occurred. On July 14, around 2 PM, the military council launched aerial attacks on Poe Za village and Phawtaw village in Kyaukse Township, Mandalay Region. The attacks resulted in the deaths of 6 people, including 4 members of the same family, while 2 others were injured. Additionally, 5 houses were destroyed by fire, and 2 vehicles were damaged.
Among the deceased were Daw Hwam Ma Sai, aged 45, Ma Thaung Mi Tha, aged 14, Ma Thaung Ma Lay, aged 11, and Maung Thaung Sa, aged 1. Two visitors to the village, Ma Hae Bo Mi, aged 14, and Ma Naw Ma Sa, aged 12, were also killed in the bombing. Furthermore, Daw Kaw Hpa, aged 70, and U Ri Lay Su, aged 40, sustained injuries in the attack, according to local residents’ confirmation.
Similarly, around 6 PM on the same day, the military council conducted an airstrike on Hsipaw town in Northern Shan State, killing the owner of Shwe Lon Beauty Salon located on the Lashio-Mandalay road and a motorcycle taxi driver. Local residents revealed that the military council’s deliberate aerial attacks on areas where no fighting was taking place have resulted in the loss of innocent civilian lives, particularly affecting children and elderly people. They emphasized that these attacks have caused significant casualties among the civilian population, highlighting the military council’s targeting of non-combat areas and the resulting humanitarian impact on local communities.
