A fierce battle in the southern part of Kawkareik city in Karen State has resulted in the deaths of seven military council soldiers and one revolutionary fighter, according to a Southern Eagle PDF official. The clash began on February 24 in the afternoon when revolutionary forces launched an offensive against positions held by the military council’s Aung Zeya column. The intense fighting marked a significant engagement between resistance forces and military council troops in the region.
The joint operation was carried out by P29909 Southern Eagle PDF Battalion Unit (3) Tiger Dragon Revolution Force and Special Operation Force (SOF). During the battle, at least seven military council soldiers were killed and many others were wounded. The revolutionary forces suffered the loss of one brave fighter from the Tiger Dragon Revolution Force. In the aftermath of the battle, the military council forces have been indiscriminately firing heavy weapons at nearby villages in retaliation, forcing local civilians to flee to safer locations.
The Southern Eagle PDF has expressed serious concern for civilian safety and strongly urged residents to evacuate from areas that could be targeted by artillery fire and seek shelter in secure locations. The organization has stated that the military council continues to commit war crimes against civilian populations, emphasizing the need for local residents to remain extremely vigilant. The military council’s pattern of targeting civilian areas with heavy weapons has been a consistent feature of their operations, demonstrating their disregard for civilian safety and international humanitarian law.
