The Karen National Union (KNU) Central has reported that 7 civilians were injured and 4 houses were destroyed due to artillery and drone attacks by the terrorist military in villages within Kyaukkyi and Mone Townships in Bago Region. On August 31 at 10:20 AM, the terrorist military’s Infantry Battalion 307 (Shwewa Battalion) in Mone Township fired 5 howitzer shells that landed and exploded in Yelay West Bank village. The attack damaged Daw May Myint Shein’s house and injured seven people: 72-year-old Daw May Myint Shein, 75-year-old Daw San Myint, 46-year-old Daw Wat Hmun, 22-year-old Ma Thazin Myaing, 67-year-old Daw Kyi Myint, 65-year-old Daw Tin, and 40-year-old Ko Kyaw Thet Nyi.
Additionally, on August 30, the terrorist military’s Infantry Battalion 264 in Lay Do Township launched drone attacks from Kyauktaga on Kywet Kwin village at 4:28 PM. The attack destroyed Saw Zaw Hlaing Win’s house. The military’s Thayakone drone unit conducted another drone attack on Kywet Kwin village at 4:30 PM, firing a 120mm bomb that destroyed U Maung Maung Soe’s house. At around 6:37 PM, they fired another howitzer shell from Kyauktaga that landed and exploded in Kywet Kwin village, destroying Saw Kee La’s house.
The KNU Central has stated that the terrorist military is deliberately targeting civilian areas with artillery and drones on a daily basis in Lay Do, Thawthi, and Mone Townships within the Kler Lwee Htoo District. As a result, innocent civilians have been forced to flee to safer locations and are living in fear. These brutal attacks by the terrorist military have severely disrupted the daily lives of local residents, who continue to live in constant fear and anxiety. The systematic targeting of civilian areas demonstrates the military’s ongoing campaign of terror against the local population, forcing many to abandon their homes and seek refuge elsewhere while living under conditions of extreme stress and uncertainty.
