
According to a report released by the Burmese Women’s Union (BWU), 66 women were killed and 88 were injured during March 2025 due to airstrikes and artillery attacks by the military council. Among the fatalities, 50 women were killed by airstrikes, 5 by artillery fire, 2 by landmines, 7 by direct military killings, 1 by being burned alive, and 1 due to sexual violence, as detailed in the report.
Among the deceased were 24 girls under the age of 18. The regional breakdown of casualties shows 9 deaths in Sagaing Region, 2 in Kachin State, 12 in Mandalay Region, 12 in Shan State, 15 in Magway Region, 2 in Karenni State, 7 in Bago Region, 2 in Rakhine State, 2 in Karen State, 1 in Ayeyarwady Region, and 2 in Tanintharyi Region.
Regarding the injured, 49 women were wounded by airstrikes, 23 by artillery attacks, 15 by landmines, and 1 from physical assault, totaling 88 injured women, as confirmed by the BWU. The organization notes that these figures represent only verified cases, and the actual numbers could be higher. The report highlights that despite the Myanmar people suffering from earthquake damage, the military council continues to perpetrate violence against civilians, resulting in daily casualties among women and children.
