A spokesperson from the We Love Myaing organization has confirmed that two civilians and four members of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) were killed in an airstrike conducted by the military council in Bahin village, Myaing Township, Magway Region. The incident occurred around 5:25 PM on March 20, when a fighter jet from the Tatmadaw’s Tataoo Air Base attacked a restaurant near a school in Bahin village. The airstrike was carried out without any ongoing fighting in the area at the time of the attack.
The airstrike resulted in the immediate deaths of four PDF members from Battalion 12, Unit 3 TRIPLE-R of Yinmabin District, who were having a meal at the restaurant. The deceased PDF members were identified as Unit Commander Bo Zaw Myat, Bo David, Bo Mone, and Bo Lin Yone. Additionally, two civilians – a mother and child who owned the restaurant – were also killed in the attack. The We Love Myaing organization emphasized that this deliberate targeting of civilians and PDF members without any active conflict demonstrates the military council’s continued brutality against its own people.
Furthermore, on May 19 at approximately 8:30 PM, the military council conducted another airstrike near Phathi village in the northeastern part of Myaing Township, resulting in injuries to four civilians. These ongoing airstrikes on civilian areas have created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among local residents, who face daily threats to their lives. Local sources report that civilians in the area are living in constant fear of such indiscriminate attacks, highlighting the increasingly dangerous situation faced by residents in conflict-affected regions of Myanmar under the military council’s rule.
