A military airstrike on Daw Mu Cho’s general store in Sintaw village, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, resulted in the death of six civilians, according to local sources. The attack occurred around 6:40 PM on April 20, when the military’s jet fighter dropped two 300-pound bombs on the target. The strike killed three men and three women who were inside the store at the time, while two other civilians sustained injuries in the attack.
Local residents reported that a house near the bombing site was also destroyed by fire. According to a representative from the Kawlin Information Network, the attack deliberately targeted a civilian area, and all casualties were innocent civilians. The frequency of airstrikes on civilian areas has been increasing in the Sagaing Region, resulting in continuous civilian casualties and deaths. Local residents have expressed growing concern over the military’s escalating air operations in the region.
Local human rights monitoring groups have emphasized the need for international intervention regarding these war crimes against civilians. They stated that they are systematically documenting the military’s human rights violations and will submit reports to relevant organizations. Currently, military operations in the Sagaing Region have intensified, leading to continued civilian casualties and damages. The attack on Sintaw village represents another instance of the military’s ongoing campaign of violence against civilian populations, demonstrating a pattern of targeting non-military locations and causing civilian casualties.
