Six civilians were killed when the military council conducted an airstrike on 147 KTV in Shaukpinyo village, Sintguu Township, Mandalay Region, according to local residents. The attack occurred on August 19 at approximately 2:10 PM when a YAK-130 fighter jet from the Tada-U air base launched an aerial assault on the establishment. The airstrike resulted in numerous civilian casualties, with the exact number of injured still being verified. Additionally, three buildings were destroyed in the attack.
According to a local resident, the military council deliberately targeted Shaukpinyo village, noting that attacking civilian areas constitutes a war crime. The ongoing airstrikes have caused widespread fear among local residents, who are forced to flee to safety on a daily basis. The military’s aerial attacks have significantly disrupted civilian life in the area, with many residents seeking shelter in safer locations to avoid becoming casualties of these indiscriminate attacks.
Previously, on July 29, the military council also conducted airstrikes on the Letpanhlya village police station and Shwepantaw village in Sintguu Township. These attacks resulted in the deaths of 21 male inmates and one female inmate who were either serving sentences or under investigation as suspects. More than 30 others were injured in these attacks, according to official records. Human rights observers have pointed out that such aerial attacks by the military council violate international humanitarian law. The pattern of targeting civilian areas and infrastructure has raised serious concerns about the military council’s disregard for civilian lives and international conventions governing armed conflict.
