A fierce battle erupted between the military forces and revolutionary forces at the border area between Myaung Township in Sagaing Region and Yesakyo Township in Magway Region, according to revolutionary news sources. The conflict, which began around 9 AM on February 6, lasted for approximately three hours when revolutionary forces engaged with a military battalion that was advancing from Yesakyo Township toward the Yaylaykyun area. The confrontation resulted in significant casualties for the military forces, with five soldiers killed and nine others captured as prisoners of war.
During the battle, the military deployed heavy aerial assets, including an Mi-35 attack helicopter and two fighter jets, to support their ground forces. Despite the military’s use of airpower, the resistance forces managed to maintain their positions, though three resistance fighters sustained injuries that were reported to be non-life-threatening. The military column, consisting of over 100 troops, had been conducting operations in the area when they encountered resistance forces, leading to the intense firefight.
The military forces responded to the engagement with heavy artillery strikes in the surrounding area, forcing local civilians to flee their homes and seek shelter in safer locations. The ongoing threat of further military operations continues to cause concern among displaced residents, who remain unable to return to their homes. The battle and subsequent airstrikes have also resulted in damage to civilian properties and agricultural lands in the affected area. Local sources report that residents remain anxious about potential follow-up operations by military forces, as the area continues to be unstable due to the ongoing conflict between resistance forces and the military.
