In Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region, resistance forces conducted two separate mine attacks on military council convoys, resulting in the death of 5 military council soldiers, according to a spokesperson from the Bagan Byoe Choe group. The first attack occurred on March 16 when resistance forces targeted a military convoy consisting of two armored vehicles and two military trucks traveling from the Bagan Nyaung-U area toward Chauk town along the Bagan Nyaung-U-Chauk road.
In the first attack, one military council soldier was killed and four others were injured, while the resistance forces successfully retreated without any casualties. Later that evening, resistance forces launched a second mine attack on military vehicles that had emerged for patrol operations, resulting in the death of four additional military council soldiers, according to the Bagan Byoe Choe group representative. The attacks were carried out along the strategic route connecting Bagan Nyaung-U to Chauk.
The Bagan Byoe Choe group is a resistance organization responsible for protecting the security and welfare of local civilians in the region. They have been actively opposing the military council’s violent actions against civilians. These attacks were described as necessary responses to the military council’s brutal operations in the area and were conducted to ensure the safety of local residents. The resistance forces maintain that their actions are defensive measures against the military council’s ongoing campaign of violence and oppression against the civilian population.
