A spokesperson from the Nagani Guerrilla Force has confirmed that five military council soldiers were killed when resistance forces attacked their convoy with mines as they were leaving the Myotha Industrial Zone in Ngazun Township, Mandalay Region. The incident occurred around 6:15 PM on June 24, when approximately 50 military council troops were traveling in two light trucks from the Myotha Industrial Zone towards their base camp in Gwekone. The resistance forces executed the attack using two barrel mines as the vehicles were en route.
The attack resulted in the immediate death of five military council soldiers, with several others sustaining injuries. The bodies of the deceased soldiers and those wounded were immediately transported to Myotha Hospital for treatment. According to local sources, the attack was carried out by members of the People’s Defense Force from Myingyan District 3’s Nagani Guerrilla Force, who were able to safely withdraw from the area after the successful operation. The resistance force representative confirmed that none of their members were injured during the operation.
This attack represents a successful operation by resistance forces who had been monitoring military council troop movements in the area. Resistance forces have noted that this operation demonstrates the military council’s increasingly limited ability to move freely within the region. Currently, resistance forces have been intensifying their offensive operations in the area, while military council troops have been forced to maintain defensive positions. The successful ambush highlights the growing capabilities of local resistance forces and their ability to effectively coordinate and execute tactical operations against military council movements in the region.
