
According to local military sources, five military council soldiers were killed when their own artillery shell mistakenly hit troops who were attempting to burn down Sanbok village in Minhla Township, Bago Region. The incident occurred around 7 PM on June 24 when intoxicated military council soldiers from Ywekon village began firing heavy weapons indiscriminately. The shell landed among another group of military council troops who were preparing to set fire to Sanbok village. After the explosion, the bodies of the five deceased soldiers were transported back to Sanbok village.
The military council troops have been systematically burning down villages in the area since June 20. They torched Taungpyat village on June 20, followed by Ywekon village and U Tote Kywe Lan Su village on June 22. On June 23, they burned down Sarchaung village, Sin Aing Chaung Pauk village, Gangaw Pin village, Bogyoke Htaung village, Nga Hla San village, and Pharlay Kwin village. Sanbok village was burned on June 24, and Kywe Magaing village on June 25. Local residents state that these village burnings constitute war crimes committed by the military council against civilians.
Meanwhile, in Letpadan Township, Bago Region, a member of the Pyu Saw Htee militia defected from the military council and surrendered to revolutionary forces. The incident occurred on June 20 when the militia member, who was stationed at a checkpoint in Kwinchan village along the Yangon-Pyay road, fled without his weapon while on guard duty and surrendered to revolutionary forces. Local residents observe that soldiers are gradually deserting due to the military council’s oppressive practices.
