Five military council soldiers were killed in a drone strike near Yay Aung Myint Monastery in Tapin Kan village, Thaung Tha Township, Mandalay Region, according to Colonel Katun, leader of the Myingyan District Drone Team. The attack occurred on July 23 at approximately 10:30 AM, involving ten drones conducting bombing operations against military council forces who had established a security checkpoint near the monastery. At the time of the attack, there were approximately 50 to 60 military council troops stationed at the location.
The strike resulted in five military council soldiers being killed and eight others wounded, with two of the injured suffering severe leg injuries resulting in amputation. Following the attack, the remaining military council forces retreated toward Myingyan in three vehicles. The resistance forces lost three fixed-wing drones during the operation. The attack was jointly carried out by the Myingyan District Army-3 Drone Team and the Malun People’s Defense Force Drone Team, demonstrating increasing coordination between resistance groups in the region.
Colonel Katun acknowledged that current limitations in bomb supplies had somewhat constrained their operational capabilities, but promised more effective operations in the future. According to local residents, the military council forces in the area had been conducting oppressive activities and looting against the civilian population. The successful drone strike represents another instance of resistance forces employing tactical innovations to challenge military council positions, despite resource constraints.
