A spokesperson from the Duraka Column has confirmed that five military council soldiers were killed during attacks on two military checkpoints in Dawei and Yephyu Townships of Tanintharyi Region. The coordinated attacks took place on March 7th, with the first operation occurring around noon at the Harley Curve checkpoint near Maung Mae Shaung village in Dawei Township. The engagement lasted approximately 20 minutes and resulted in the death of one military council soldier. Later that same day, at around 4 PM, revolutionary forces launched a second attack on the military checkpoint at the bridge entrance to Yephyu town. Although this confrontation lasted only 10 minutes, it resulted in the deaths of four additional military council soldiers.
The operations were jointly carried out by the Duraka Column of the Dawei Nationalities Liberation Army (DNLA) and the Yephyu People’s Defense Force (YPPDF). In both engagements, the revolutionary forces successfully withdrew without sustaining any casualties. However, the resistance forces were unable to capture any weapons or ammunition from the military council during these operations. The spokesperson from the Duraka Column noted that as military activities are intensifying across the country, local civilians are advised to exercise extreme caution in their daily movements and activities. The resistance forces have emphasized the importance of maintaining heightened security awareness during this period of increased military operations.
The Duraka Column has also extended an invitation to military council soldiers and police personnel who wish to stand on the side of truth to defect to the public’s side as soon as possible, assuring them of safe harbor within the people’s embrace. According to resistance forces, revolutionary operations in the Tanintharyi Region have been gaining momentum, with progressive liberation of territories from military council control. The successful attacks on these checkpoints represent part of the broader strategic effort to diminish the military council’s operational capacity in the region while maintaining the safety and security of civilian populations in the area.
