A spokesperson from the Duraka Column has confirmed that five military council soldiers were killed during attacks on two military checkpoints in Dawei and Yephyu Townships of Tanintharyi Region. The coordinated attacks were carried out on March 7 through joint operations between the Dawei National Liberation Army (DNLA)’s Duraka Column and the Yephyu People’s Defense Force (YPPDF). The first attack occurred around noon at the Harley Curve checkpoint near Maung Mae Shaung village in Dawei Township, resulting in a 20-minute engagement that left one military council soldier dead.
Later that day, at approximately 4 PM, resistance forces launched another attack on the military checkpoint at the entrance bridge to Yephyu town. Although this engagement lasted only about 10 minutes, it resulted in the deaths of four military council soldiers. The resistance forces successfully withdrew from both operations without sustaining any casualties, though they were unable to seize any weapons or ammunition from the military council forces, according to the Duraka Column spokesperson.
Given the current escalation of military operations across the country, the Duraka Column has advised local civilians to exercise extreme caution in their daily movements. They have also extended an invitation to military council soldiers and police personnel who wish to stand on the side of truth to defect and seek refuge with the public as soon as possible. These attacks demonstrate the growing strength of revolutionary forces in the Tanintharyi region and represent an increasing challenge to military council control. The successful operations highlight the expanding capabilities of resistance forces in conducting coordinated attacks against military council positions while maintaining operational security and minimizing civilian impact.
