A spokesperson from the Duraka Column has confirmed that five military council soldiers were killed during attacks on two military checkpoints in Dawei and Yephyu Townships of Tanintharyi Region. The attacks occurred on March 7th, targeting the Harley Curve checkpoint in Maung Mae Shaung village in Dawei Township and another checkpoint at the bridge entrance to Yephyu town. The resistance forces conducted these operations separately on the same day.
The first attack took place around noon on March 7th at the Harley Curve checkpoint in Maung Mae Shaung village, Dawei Township. The engagement lasted approximately 20 minutes, resulting in the death of one military council soldier. Later that day, at around 4 PM, resistance forces launched a second attack on the checkpoint at the bridge entrance to Yephyu town. Although this confrontation lasted only about 10 minutes, it resulted in the deaths of four additional military council soldiers.
The operations were jointly carried out by the Dawei Nationalities Liberation Army (DNLA)’s Duraka Column and the Yephyu People’s Defense Force (YPDF). According to the Duraka Column spokesperson, the resistance forces successfully withdrew from both engagements without suffering any casualties. However, they were unable to seize any weapons or ammunition from the military council forces. The Duraka Column has called on military council soldiers and police who wish to stand for justice to defect and join the people’s side as soon as possible, noting that nationwide military operations are intensifying and civilians should remain vigilant during this period.
