The Battalion No. 8 of Myingyan District has reported that an attack on a military council convoy along the Yangon-Mandalay highway in Mandalay Region resulted in the death of 5 military council soldiers and the seizure of ammunition. The incident occurred around 10 AM on July 5th, when resistance forces intercepted a military column of approximately 100 personnel near Myinshin (also known as Myinthae) village. The military column had departed from Meiktila military zone to conduct clearance operations along the highway.
During the engagement, 5 military council soldiers were killed and more than 10 were wounded. Following the battle, resistance forces conducted a sweep of the area and seized various military equipment and supplies, including 128 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, one G-3 magazine, a mobile phone, a power bank, and 300,000 kyats in cash. The military council forces, having suffered casualties, responded with airstrikes near the battle area, conducting one attack using a Mi-35 helicopter and two drone strikes.
The operation was jointly carried out by Battalion No. 8 of Myingyan District, Battalion No. 2 of Meiktila District, Battalion No. 3 of Meiktila District, and the People’s Defense Force of Mahlaing Township. During the engagement, one resistance fighter sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The resistance forces confirmed that such attacks effectively counter the military council’s clearance operations in the region. These defensive actions by resistance forces continue in response to the military council’s ongoing violence against local civilians.
