
A military convoy returning from a supply mission from the military council’s 603rd Battalion was attacked on the Taungoo-Leiktho road in Taungoo Township, Bago Region, resulting in the death of 5 soldiers and the seizure of weapons and ammunition, according to an official from Kenni Twilight Zone. The attack occurred around 8 AM on June 17, when revolutionary forces targeted a convoy of 11 vehicles carrying military council troops near the exit of Htonbogyi village as they were returning from a supply mission to the 603rd Battalion.
During the attack, one military vehicle overturned near Htoewarchanging village. Revolutionary forces also engaged with military council troops who were providing security for the convoy and approximately 40 soldiers stationed in Htoewarchanging village. The clash resulted in at least 5 military council casualties and no fewer than 7 injuries. The revolutionary forces seized various weapons and ammunition from the military council, including 5 60mm mortar rounds, 500 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, 3 hand grenades, 4 MA ammunition magazines, and 4 14-mines.
The operation was jointly carried out by the KNU Brigade 2 Battalion 5’s Kamni Regional Defense Force and Taungoo District People’s Defense Force Battalion 3502 Companies 1 and 2. Currently, there are no military council troops remaining in Htoewarchanging village. The revolutionary forces have issued warnings to civilians using the Taungoo-Leiktho road to exercise caution while traveling. They have also called for public support in addressing their ammunition and weapons requirements to continue their resistance efforts against the military council forces.
