The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) has reported that five civilians were injured when the military council conducted airstrikes on Taung Hla and Gaw Ra Khar villages in Naung Cho Township, northern Shan State. The attacks occurred around 11:00 AM on April 1, when military forces launched aerial attacks using both drones and fighter jets on the villages located between Umhti and Samma villages. The bombardment resulted in injuries to five local residents and destroyed two houses in the area.
On March 31, the military council had also conducted an attack on Kyauk Kham village in Naung Cho Township using a drone equipped with 120mm bombs. Despite the military council’s declaration of national mourning days from March 31 to April 6 due to the recent earthquake, they continue to deliberately target civilian areas with airstrikes. The TNLA has emphasized that these attacks demonstrate the military’s intentional targeting of civilian populations even during a period designated for national mourning.
The TNLA has issued warnings to local residents to maintain constant military vigilance to avoid the military council’s airstrikes and to strictly follow air defense guidelines for their protection. These aerial attacks by the military council constitute war crimes against civilians and violations of international law, as they deliberately target civilian populations and infrastructure. The continued attacks during a declared period of national mourning further demonstrate the military council’s disregard for civilian safety and international humanitarian principles.
