According to sources from the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) and CDM Major Zin Yaw, a total of 489 military personnel, ranging from senior general rank to clerical staff, have been transferred to the USDP under the orders of military leader Min Aung Hlaing. The transfers, which began in early September, include officers from military offices and the Ministry of Defense, spanning from high-ranking officers to junior officers, as well as administrative staff and clerk sergeants at lower levels.
The transferred military personnel include one senior general, six lieutenant generals, twelve brigadier generals, 300 colonels, lieutenant colonels and majors, 110 captains and majors, and 60 other ranks from administrative officers to clerk sergeants. According to CDM Major Zin Yaw, these transfers are expected to be completed within September, with internal orders being processed through the military personnel department and central administration offices. The transfer lists have already been circulated within military headquarters and personnel offices, though obtaining official documentation remains challenging due to the internal nature of these orders.
According to USDP sources, the list of transferred military officers has received final approval from military leader Min Aung Hlaing and is being processed by the party’s central executive committee led by party chairman Khin Yi. The party has been instructed to reserve specific constituencies for these former military officers in the upcoming December election. The transfer lists include predetermined constituencies and parliament types where these officers will contest, and the party is required to accommodate these assignments. The USDP has established a policy to contest in all constituencies in the December election and has decided not to form alliances with any other political parties, aiming to win all constituencies independently.
