The People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Sagaing Region’s Kalay Wa Township has confirmed the seizure and subsequent destruction of 450 cases of military-produced Dagon Beer. According to the Kalay District PDF commander, the operation took place during a surprise checkpoint inspection on August 25, when joint forces of Kalay Wa Township PDF, PKF, and PAF intercepted a cargo vehicle transporting the military-produced beverages. The inspection was conducted at a strategic location within Kalay Wa Township, resulting in the successful interdiction of military-affiliated products.
The seized beer shipment was being transported through Swan Htet Aung car terminal, with the owner identified as Ban Hoke. The driver, Nay Min Aung, and his assistant, Maung Htay, were detained during the operation. Following thorough questioning and investigation, the authorities released them after obtaining signed pledges promising they would not transport military-produced goods in the future. The entire consignment of 450 cases of Dagon Beer was systematically destroyed on August 28 in the presence of all relevant parties, including the vehicle’s crew members, as confirmed by responsible officials.
Throughout Sagaing Region, particularly in areas under the control of People’s Defense Forces, there is a strict prohibition on the transportation, distribution, and sale of military-produced products, including beer, alcohol, and other goods that directly benefit the military forces. This enforcement action represents part of a broader strategy to disrupt the military’s economic interests and revenue streams. The destruction of military-produced goods is aimed at weakening the military’s financial resources and commercial operations in the region. Local resistance forces maintain vigilant monitoring of transportation routes to prevent the distribution of military-affiliated products within their controlled territories.
