Thai police conducted a raid on an unlicensed karaoke bar in Bangkok, where they discovered 41 Myanmar nationals testing positive for drug use during a birthday party celebration. The operation, which took place on the evening of August 15, targeted an illegal establishment located near the Town in Town Hotel on Srivara Road in Bangkok. During the raid, authorities apprehended more than 60 Myanmar nationals who were attending a birthday party, with subsequent testing revealing that 41 of them had consumed illegal substances.
The raided karaoke bar was operating without proper licensing in a single-story building containing three rooms. During their search, law enforcement officials discovered illegal items including prohibited vape liquid cartridges and other contraband materials that are banned for sale in Thailand. The Thai owner of the establishment was also arrested for operating an unlicensed business. The facility was found to be in violation of multiple local regulations and operating completely outside the legal framework for entertainment venues in Bangkok.
All detained Myanmar suspects have been taken to the Wang Thonglang Police Station for further investigation and processing. Those who tested positive for drug use will face legal consequences according to Thai law, while the remaining individuals are undergoing additional screening procedures. Thai authorities have emphasized that drug use is considered a serious offense in Thailand, and they maintain strict enforcement policies regarding such violations. The police department has stated that they will continue their investigation to determine the full extent of the illegal activities and ensure appropriate legal action is taken against all involved parties.
