A military source from the People’s Defense Force – Seikphyu (PDF) has confirmed that four soldiers were killed when a howitzer exploded at Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 256 based in Seikphyu, Magway Region, while targeting civilian areas. The incident occurred around 3:30 PM on July 26, when the battalion fired four howitzer shells at Pyitauk Pan village. Two of the shells landed and exploded within the village, resulting in injuries to two civilians, with one person sustaining severe injuries and remaining in critical condition. Additionally, two cattle were killed, and several civilian homes were damaged in the attack.
According to the PDF spokesperson, the fatal explosion occurred during the firing of the last shell when the howitzer’s barrel exploded, instantly killing the four military personnel operating the weapon. The military had been firing indiscriminately at civilian areas without any ongoing battles in the vicinity. Witnesses reported seeing smoke rising from the explosion site within the military compound. The attacks on civilian areas have been deliberate and unprovoked, demonstrating the military council’s continued aggression against its own people.
The terrorist military council continues to target civilian populations with airstrikes and heavy artillery attacks at any time, prompting revolutionary organizations to strongly advise local residents to construct sturdy bomb shelters in their homes and follow air defense guidelines. The ongoing indiscriminate attacks by military council forces have resulted in continued civilian casualties and damages, forcing local residents to remain extremely vigilant. The military’s targeting of civilian areas without military engagement demonstrates their continued pattern of violence against the civilian population, leading to widespread destruction of property and loss of innocent lives.
