A spokesperson from the Pakokku Township People’s Defense Force has confirmed that four members of the Pyu Saw Htee group were killed and two weapons were seized during an attack on their vehicles near Sinminkun village in Magway Region’s Pakokku Township. The incident occurred around 8 AM on June 1st when People’s Defense Forces intercepted two vehicles carrying eight Pyu Saw Htee members, including their leader, who were traveling from Pakokku town to the Sinminkun village checkpoint for a duty rotation. The Pyu Saw Htee members were operating under the military council’s authority.
The ensuing firefight lasted approximately 45 minutes, during which both vehicles were damaged. While four Pyu Saw Htee members managed to escape, the remaining four were killed in the clash. Due to heavy rainfall, the resistance forces were unable to burn the damaged vehicles. The following morning, it was reported that military forces increased their presence at the Sinminkun checkpoint to about 70 personnel. During the operation, the resistance forces seized one MA3 rifle, one pistol, ammunition and explosives, along with 3.1 million kyats in cash from the deceased Pyu Saw Htee members.
According to local residents of Pakokku, one of the deceased was identified as Kyaw Soe Naing, the Pyu Saw Htee leader who resided on Naypyitaw Road in Ward 2 of Pakokku town. His funeral was held the following day at 9 AM. The successful operation was carried out through the coordinated efforts of the Pakokku Township People’s Defense Force, Pakokku District Battalion 16, and the Bogyoke Lay Combined Forces. The resistance forces were able to withdraw safely from the area without suffering any casualties. This operation represents another strategic victory for the local resistance forces in their ongoing struggle against the military council and its affiliated groups in the Pakokku region.
