In Launglone town of Tanintharyi Region, resistance forces launched an RPG attack against military council troops who were attempting to forcibly recruit young people as porters, resulting in four casualties among the junta forces. The incident occurred around 1 PM on April 28th near the high school in downtown Launglone. The attack targeted a vehicle carrying the son of Pyu Saw Htee leader Min Thein along with other military council soldiers. The People’s Defense Force spokesperson for Launglone Township, Comrade Shay Door, confirmed these details to Yangon Modern News Agency.
During the attack, the vehicle carrying military council troops was hit by an RPG and crashed into an electric pole, resulting in complete destruction of the vehicle. In the ensuing firefight, four military council troops were killed. While the attack was ongoing, military vessel 565 was observed approaching the coast near San Hlan village from the western sea. The military council forces from Launglone Police Station and Sa Ra Pha office responded by firing heavy weapons, which damaged the roofs of three civilian homes in the town, though fortunately no civilians were injured in the incident.
According to Comrade Shay Door, Pyu Saw Htee leader Min Thein himself was not present during the attack, but his son and other troops were in the vehicle. Of the four casualties, three bodies were found on the street while one soldier escaped with a leg injury. The resistance forces were able to successfully withdraw from the area without suffering any casualties. The attack demonstrated the continued resistance against the military council’s practice of forcing civilians into porter service, which has been widely condemned as a human rights violation. The incident also highlighted the ongoing conflict between resistance forces and military council troops in the Tanintharyi Region, where both sides continue to engage in armed confrontations.
