
In Myaung Township, Sagaing Region, resistance forces attacked six military council personnel from Myaung Town Police Station who were illegally collecting extortion money from civilians, resulting in the death of four soldiers including one military officer, and the seizure of three weapons. The incident occurred on May 5th. The operation was carried out by CDSOM (Colonel Friday) column and allied revolutionary forces, with the battle lasting over an hour.
During the engagement, three soldiers were killed at the scene of the battle, while a military officer who sustained gunshot wounds died en route before reaching their base. The remaining two soldiers suffered severe injuries, according to confirmation from forces involved in the operation. The joint operation included participation from CDSOM (Colonel Friday) column, MRF Sarphoe column, Sagaing District Battalion 1, local People’s Defense Force, and Zamani Guerrilla Force.
One revolutionary fighter sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm during the battle. The resistance forces successfully captured three MA-series rifles from the military council troops. This operation was conducted in response to the military council forces’ ongoing practice of extorting money from local civilians, which has been a significant source of hardship for the people in the area. The coordinated attack demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in the region and their commitment to protecting civilians from the military council’s exploitative practices.
